Exhibition helps bank connect with UAE National talent
Dubai Islamic Bank, the largest Islamic Bank in the UAE, reaffirmed its support for Emiratisation through its participation at ‘Careers UAE 2014’.
Careers UAE 2014 is a leading recruitment and education exhibition and was held at the Dubai World Trade Centre recently. The exhibition, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, provided UAE Nationals the opportunity to identify promising career paths with a number of leading organizations in the UAE.
DIB’s commitment to Emiratisation has been one of the bank’s strategic priorities since its establishment in 1975. With a long-standing heritage and proven track record in the area, DIB utilises platforms such as Careers UAE to interact and connect with the best Emirati talent who are interested in developing their careers with one of the leading financial institutions in the country. Indicative of its success, the bank boasts an Emiratisation ratio of 46%, with UAE Nationals making up 100% across the branch manager level at the bank; well ahead of the industry average.
Commenting on the event, Obaid Al Shamsi, Chief of Human Resources and Admin, Dubai Islamic Bank, said: “As one of the oldest banks in the UAE with a demonstrated commitment to the development of the country, we have continually invested in supporting the initiatives that Dubai and the UAE have in place to nurture and advance local talent. ‘Careers UAE’ is one of these initiatives and it was a great success for us this year, where we met some exceptional job seekers looking for a career in the Islamic banking industry.”
He added: “DIB has always been focused on enhancing local talent with a host of diverse training programmes, and we are proud to say we are reaping the results of our efforts. We strongly believe that recruiting and proactively contributing to the professional development of UAE Nationals is essential, particularly as we look to build a sustainable pipeline of leaders for the bank, who will also be able to contribute to the social and economic development of the country.”
DIB has successfully developed a range of comprehensive training programs across different levels of the bank. The bank also offers various programs specially designed for UAE Nationals aimed at providing aspiring candidates a chance to work in different areas of the bank, allowing DIB to identify potential candidates for full-time positions.
Further testament to DIB’s achievements and success in attracting and retaining local talent is the Dubai Human Development Award in 2013 commemorating the bank’s efforts in developing UAE National talent. The Human Development award is part of the Business Excellence Awards, hosted by the Department of Economic Development, to honour businesses for their pursuit in achieving outstanding excellence.
