Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB), the largest Islamic bank in the UAE, marked the 42nd UAE National Day by organising a special ceremony at the company’s headquarters in Dubai. Senior management and staff, representing a number of nationalities, gathered to commemorate the founding of the nation, as well as celebrate the UAE’s rich heritage.
The ceremony included the UAE national anthem, the UAE Pledge of Loyalty and featured a viewing of the documentary - “The Happiest Nation” - which was the theme of the celebration and also included various traditional activities.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Adnan Chilwan, Chief Executive Officer, DIB, said: “Forty-two years ago, guided by the vision of His Highness the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the leaders of the emirates stood united to lay the foundation of our nation. Since then, the UAE has become an example to the rest of the world in providing an environment of prosperity, knowledge and development to its citizens and to all who live here.”
He added: “We extend our congratulations to the President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, The Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, on Dubai winning the bid to host Expo 2020. Today, Dubai enjoys a reputation worldwide for being the place that witnessed the birth of the world’s first fully fledged Islamic bank, and for being one of the first economies that embraced and contributed to the newly emerged Islamic economy. The announcement by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed sends a clear message that Dubai is intent on becoming the global capital of the Islamic economy. With our rich heritage, unrivalled expertise and tradition of innovation, we expect to play a leading role in this initiative and participate in the overall development of the nation.”
