As part of its ongoing commitment towards developing the next generation of UAE banking professionals, Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) today welcomed a new batch of students to its annual Iktaseb summer training programme for young UAE nationals.
Over the next four weeks, 110 Emirati students from high schools, colleges and universities across the UAE will be introduced to the principles and workings of Sharia compliant banking, before engaging in practical training in the day-to-day operations of a modern Islamic bank. Graduates of the programme will receive a programme completion certification and be given priority in future recruitment by the bank.
Obaid Al Shamsi, Chief of Human Resources, DIB, said: “The Iktaseb programme has been the launch pad to a career in the Islamic finance industry for hundreds of young UAE nationals. Over the next month, more than a hundred young Emiratis will gain invaluable knowledge about Islamic banking, in addition to communication and presentation skills. Iktaseb remains a key part of DIB’s extensive corporate social responsibility efforts and the bank’s strategy to enhance the skills of young UAE Nationals.”
Alia Dalmook Al Mehairi, a student at Dubai Women’s College and Iktaseb summer training programme’s participant for the third consecutive year, said: “The experience at DIB has enhanced my skills and capabilities for a future career in Islamic banking. I have particularly found the practical training useful and am pleased to be given this opportunity to work with a professional team.”
Last year, 105 Emiratis from different schools, colleges and universities across the UAE participated in the Iktaseb training programme.
